pH Test Kit – How To Use
1. Take 5ml of water sample in the test tube up to the mark.
2. Add 5 drops of PH.
3. Cap the test tube and shake well for 5 seconds.
4. Read the results by comparing the color of solution to the pH color chart.
5. The tube should be viewed in a well-lit area against the white area of the card. The closest match indicates the pH in the water sample.

pH measures the acidity or alkalinity of water. A pH value of 7 is neutral, with lower numbers increasing in acidity and higher number increasing in alkalinity.
The tap water that fills most aquariums generally has a pH between 6.5 and 7.5. However, pH can drift over time, so testing aquarium water regularly is important. Sometimes water may need to be treated to support healthy aquatic populations.

Fish and other aquatic animal and plant life require the water they live in to be a certain pH level in order to be healthy. If the pH level is too low or too high, it can make fish sick, even kill them. A low pH means that the water is acidic; a high pH means that the water is alkaline.

The aquarium itself will often reveal signs of high alkalinity as well. You may notice a sudden increase in green algae growth on the walls and ornaments in the tank. High pH levels encourage the growth of this algae and slime, which will thickly coat the plants and fixtures, making the water highly toxic for fish.
